Experienced and licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in New York and New Jersey, I am also a therapist. My specialties are in addressing anxiety, depression, and the trauma that often underlies these emotions. I am a certified specialist in working with addictions of all kinds including alcohol, drugs, and food, and behaviors like gambling, sex, and shopping.
What clients appreciate most is that I work to address the fear, helplessness and shame that can trouble a trauma victim for most of their life if left untreated. I have found that the use of EMDR within a relational psychotherapy to be the most complete way of addressing the biological, psychological, social and spiritual injuries resulting from trauma.
More often than not addictive behaviors are found to have a background in traumatic experiences, either earlier in life, or more recent. EMDR has been shown to address addictive cravings, as well as the post traumatic emotional dysregulation that can fuel the development of addiction.
Our work is done 100% virtually. I started my practice before COVID and designed it to be hybrid so I can reach people who otherwise may not feel they have workable options to access self-care. This has become a very familiar way of working and connecting for many of us, after the disruption of the Pandemic. I was already comfortable with online clinical work from my years of building out and teaching online classes. Now my clients are, too.
